Lawn Boy C series Buttercup Edger?!

1905 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Lawnboy77
I had my brother in Wichita pick this up for me on a whim yesterday for $50. Its a Craigslist find. The edger supposedly runs. I will be getting it from him this weekend I haven't seen it in person yet.

Anyone have the story on these? I have seen the Bricktop edgers and know they are rare. Are these? What year do you think it is from? Early 60's?

Thanks!

Hi! Nice find for $50.00. That should be a 1965 or 1966 model. Bill
That's awesome! It seems like ever since I restored the one for my dad, I have seen more and more of them (Lawn-Boy edgers in general). I seen one at a garage sale this year, but the guy knew exactly what he had and was asking a fair market price. I just told him how nice those are and went on browsing. What are your plans for this edger? Restore? Or just a clean up, and put it to good use?

Thanks! I have wanted a Bricktop edger for a long time now but I ran across this and said "that'll do!" I have never had a "buttercup" Lawn Boy but do have a couple of C series so there shouldn't be too much of a learning curve. I will probably just clean it up and use it, possible restore someday. I will post some better pics once I have it in my possession.

If all you were wanting was a bricktop edger, than I'd say you one upped yourself!
Yes very nice! I had been thinking about getting an old Lawnboy edger, C or D series would be fine. I'm not really too fond of the edger attachment for my weedeater. Not much power and trying to switch out the boom on these is not easy at times. I probably don't have a good one, I think the attachment is generic from Lowe's and the weedeater is a Husqvarna (weedeater seems okay though, attachment not so much)
