I had the idea of starting a post that would serve as a repository for Lawn Boy advertising and artwork of products manufactured by Lawn Boy during the years that Lawn Boy was located in Lamar, MO which would be from 1952-1963 so we could have a place where we could easily find these materials and not have to sort through several pages of other posted material to find the Lawn Boy advertising or artwork reference material(s) that we are looking for.

I discussed this idea with several of our forum members including a “My Tractor Forum” moderator and they all thought that such a post would provide a good collection of reference material for Lawn Boy products including many other “brands” and other mower products made by Lawn Boy.

All of the people that I spoke to thought that we need to concentrate on posting Lawn Boy advertising, artwork, sale brochures, magazine articles, newspaper articles, etc. and refrain from posting pictures of actual mowers as there are places for those pictures on our forum already. Here are 2 examples as found on the MTF forum for those pictures:
1. http://www.mytractorforum.com/155-w...17-post-your-pictures-model-numbers-here.html
2. http://www.mytractorforum.com/155-w...ion-lawn-boy-company-history-1952-1963-a.html

Also we would like for everyone to please refrain from posting manuals on products made by RPM as there is a “Sticky” titled “Walk Behind Reference Library” to post those manuals and the link can be found here: http://www.mytractorforum.com/155-walk-behind-mowers/647313-walk-behind-reference-library.html

In addition, I believe we can include “attachments” made by Lawn Boy and other pertinent advertising or artwork information also so please include any product(s) that you think were made by Lawn Boy and what year they were manufactured if possible, but let’s not be concerned with posting them in chronological order as per years of manufacturing of these products as of yet. When we get quite a bit of information we can then possibly begin to organize it per year.

How about leaving this post open for discussion for a few days before we begin posting advertising, artwork, sale brochures, magazine articles, newspaper articles, etc. and then we can begin those postings in a few days……

Please give us your ideas about this post.

In closing ….. we hope to possibly/eventually develop a “Sticky” containing some of the materials that are contained in this post as it “develops”.
Obviously a Sticky is much easier to find.

Thanks ~ Dan

Dan! Thanks for getting this started. I was the moderator and one of the folks that Dan bounced this off of before posting this thread. Not only will this be a good source for information but will be a great place for the next generation to learn about the history of Lawnboy mowers. Thanks again Dan! Bill

Please begin posting your Lawn Boy advertising & artwork concerning products and accessories manufactured by Lawn Boy during the years that Lawn Boy was located in Lamar, MO which would be from 1952-1963. Also please list sale brochures, magazine articles, newspaper articles, etc.

It is not necessary, but if possible please include the year of your ads, artwork, etc. We are probably going to get some of the years of these ads wrong, but again we can fix those mistakes later.......

Please Note: If you have a better picture of any of the above materials please post it as a better representation that the previous one. If we have duplicates a moderator or administrator of the forum can take care of that later if this material becomes a "sticky".

Again we ask that you please refrain from posting pictures of actual mowers & manuals as there are places for those pictures on our forum already.

Thanks ~ Dan

Lawn Boy Ads

The 4 mowers on the top "row are 1955 ads, the first 2 on the left of the second "row" are 1956, the 3rd from the left in the second row is a 1957 Automower ad ...... question of the day........ what year is the lower right ad?

To mention again........It is not necessary, but if possible please include the year of your ads, artwork, etc. We are probably going to get some of the years of these ads wrong, but again we can fix those mistakes later.......

Thanks ~ Dan

Don Klein who is a former Lawn Boy employee that worked there during part of the "Lamar Years" and became head of the "Die Cast Department" in 1960 sent me these pictures of a magazine article discussing a portion of the Lawn Boy production line in Lamar, MO including an aerial photograph of the Lawn Boy production facility.

I have additional pictures of the Die Cast Department that Don sent me and I will post those later after a bit of discussion on these 3 that I am including in this post.

I wish to thank Don for these additions to our efforts to document more of the history of Lawn Boy during 1952-1963.

Thanks ~ Dan

As mentioned ..... Don Klein who is a former Lawn Boy employee that worked there during part of the "Lamar Years" and became head of the "Die Cast Department" in 1960 sent me these pictures of a magazine article discussing a portion of the Lawn Boy production line in Lamar, MO.

This die cast department was state of the art in the early 1960s.

This is a picture of the magnesium melting furnace.

Additional pictures to follow.......

Thanks ~ Dan

Here is a picture of J.C. Rives transferring molten magnesium. J.C. is deceased, but I talked to his brother Ron Rives a few weeks back. Ron also worked at Lawn Boy in Lamar, MO and told me he knew my father Everette well. He mentioned some of Pop's art abilities and that he remembered that Pop had the ability to draw / sketch something very rapidly. It happens that I know Ron Rives son who is also named Ron. Although he is younger than I am ........I can remember him from my years in high school.

Thanks ~ Dan
