I'm having mower probs at every turn on both my Craftsman and my JD 102 that I am reworking an old deck on.....The neighbor has a L100 , old style deck, I don't have the numbers on it, but in VERY well kept shape, absolutely looks a year or 2 old (except yes the seat), that quit on him......Beautiful piece of equipment...He's been replacing the "easy" stuff because he can , but he basically knows nothing about mowers...I had to turn the fuel filter over.....The motor lost compression a couple of days ago ( I don't know if he hit something, he says "No" but I've heard him before)and he's through with it, going to get the big Husky Zero Turn that he's wanted since moving in, already found it... So I have to help with a value on it if I want it, my motor will slide right in...He's wanting it to go, no parting it out, but get the most he can...Anybody got an idea without numbers and pics ???.... Most here around ATL go for around $600+ in this shape and age , but with a motor that runs... I'm the one that checked the compression (last) and all the other likely stuff...
He's not trying to "take" anybody, just want's to get what's best and fair to him...I'm thinking the "good neighbor " price should be about $250....A new motor is $500 ? , then "our "time swapping....Yall please help with any advice on "Value"....Otherwise , I'm stuck with a beater 102 that I have to finish off (that I'd have for parts !), or my ancient Craftsmans (3 !!!) that I keep holding together with baling wire and can't make 1 without a deck and a bunch of work... I just don't understand Trannys and Piston Replacement teardown...... I'd rather work on both projects and do 'em correctly, but the grass keeps growing and I have an opp here...money and parts availability on these really sucks...
Please , please , please, somebody give me some idea of a value on this thing...
THANKS !!!!
