I was fixing a Toro with a Kohler XT675 chinese copy of honda motor.

I take the carb bowl off and take off the bowl gasket (the top rubber o ring). In addition to being very thin and flimsy, the dang thing expands about 20% in diameter where I can't put it back without it leaking gas.

So I try to put in a Briggs or a Tec gasket hoping it would fit. Of course not.

So I have to order the rubber bowl gasket. I was thinking, ummm, ok, it will cost about $1. I find out that I cannot just buy the gasket, I have to buy the whole carb rebuild kit ($16) just to get the part I need!

What the ??????

Thus why we dont go poking around with the O-ring gaskets on Chinese engines...

Also, they expand when they get ethanol or carb cleaner on them...let it dry some, try cooling it off...and normally I can get them to retract enough to go back in.

good tip on cooling it off. unfortunately, i have already ordered the carb kit. so in essence, I just paid $16 for a rubber gasket! that is worse that what I pay for Mercedes parts.
