Trying to get a rusted starter off of a kohler magnum m18 and one of the starter mounts broke in half. They are part of the block assembly.Any ideas or suggestions or is this motor just a parts motor now. Thanks!
These bolt in from the top right...like a chuck of metal that the bolt goes through the starter and into the block?
You can strip it to the block, take the chunk and have it TIG welded at a shop.
I had a situation on my Onan 18, where the starter bolts in to the bottom of one of the cylinders, and the teeth jammed and split both bolt holes wide open. I stripped it to the short block and had it welded, so far, 7 years later its still good, cost me about 40 bucks.
My block was aluminum...Pretty sure magnums are Iron, its still weldable.
I believe the starter mount is part of the block not bolted on.The starter has two threaded posts that stick out the front of the starter and go through the holes in the mounts then you put two nuts on.
