I have what I assume is a K321 in my John Deere 140. The serial tag on the engine housing is mostly gone. So I don't know what model it is. I plan on having the cylinder bored oversize. If I get a new piston and rod do I really need to know what model the engine is? Are the gasket sets the same?
Any advice???

Yes. Will need to confirm its a 10hp, vs a 12-16hp

There's two versions to the 140. ('68-74) Prior to '69 model year. 140's came with a K301 (12hp) , in '69 140 model year, 140's came with a K321 (14hp). Can you find the Tractor's ser number? I can tell you the model year.

I know its in the later group s/n > 30,000 or whatever that was. It is supposed to have the K321. And I have no reason to suspect it doesn't but you never know.
