Older engines reliable? I have a Kohler 321 (28 YO) and two B/S 18 Twins (22 YO) fully restored. My thoughts...... I think I would be hard pressed to find a "New" engine today that would last 20 - 30 years.

i have searched the web in regards to the older line of kohler engines, specially the k 301. I am trying to determine whether the older engines are reliable. Are they built tough, how would they stack up to the honda engines etc... any other knowledgable input would be appreciated as im in the process of replacing an engine.
cheers.
Doesnt get much more reliable, and tough... also when they do start to wear out [after MANY hours of use!!!] they are easy to rebuild, with great parts avalabilty. How do they compair to a modern honda?? Well the honda is going to be a lot les noisy, and smoother... Not as good lowend ,,'oomph" for the same HP rating, and more expencive to repair.hi everyone,'
