My kohler k-241 is in dismay. I pulled the govenor off and adjusted the valves, when I put it back on I started running 8,000 RPM. :Stop:!!! So I took out the old shop manual and adjusted it the way they said and no dice, I even did the opposite and it still didn't work. I called a guy and he said the hole engine was going to have to be torn down and the govenor gear was going to have to be replaced, I really, really don't want to do that. Does anyone disagree with this guy, is there anything I can do to avoid this disaster.

All you did was pull the linkedge, and adjust the valves??? I dont the governer gear went bad doing that. My guess is the linkedge is assambled wrong.

I agree, it ran perfectly before. I'll compare it to my other kohler k241.

I found that the bolt that holds the governor arm in place was stripped, so here goes my next question, I have the governor adjusted right however I can't get it to go above a medium run. I also can't get it to idle slowly.

Any suggestions.
