I figured out that the K181 on my Mountaineer has stopped charging the battery. The battery is good, the wiring all looks good, but slight negative draw on the ammeter when running, and after starting and running over a couple of months, it runs down.
What should I look at first? Regulator? Suggestions on testing it?
I don't know that it's the most likely thing, but a bad key switch can do this too. I had the exact same thing happen on my JD 110 with K181 - One day the ammeter started showing slightly negative. Eventually it would randomly completely lose spark. I did enough digging to find that the key switch was pretty corroded, and a new one fixed both of the electrical issues.
Just something to check, and key switches are cheap :fing02:
