So thanks to the awesome that is Facebook Buy and Sell groups, I got a 2003 Husqvarna YTH20K46 with a hair under 300 hours for free. Of course it needs work.

It has no deck (Rusted so bad he scrapped it), and it refuses to move. Kohler 20hp runs great though.

So where's a good place to start with why it won't move?

Guy I got it from said he think's its the clutch. Belt moves, but seem's a little loose. I am leaning towards the rear axle needing to be torn down or replaced. I can push it around regardless if the little back piece is engaged or disengaged. I can't remember the name, it lets you free push the mower for loading.

Yeah, I can push it whether the trans release lever is pulled in or out.

I might pick up a new belt in the coming days but I'm pretty sure it's more then that.

Don't buy the belt just yet. You may have bigger problems if you can push it around regardless of the position of the freewheel release.

First, make sure that the pulley is actually turning the input shaft. If it isn't, the splines are worn out and it needs some parts, one of which may be a new belt.

If the pulley does turn the input shaft, the hydro is either low on fluid or needs serious surgery. In either event, it needs to come out for servicing.

You will have to check it out, to see what you can find.

Track the hydro release lever all the way down to where it activates a valve or lever on the transX, sometimes that valve gets rusted or stuck due to corrosion and dirt, and a good shot of liquid wrench and a little attention, could get it to operate properly, there might be a spring missing. (you did say something about rust was already a problem on the unit)

Good deal you got for free & the engine works!!!, should be a money maker, whether the transX is any good or not.
