Just happened on this gem on CL and it looked good. Went to check it out and this baby has been LOVED! No smoke, leaks or problems, deck is in first class condition. I have yet to find a problem with it, and I'm aware that eventually I'll find something wrong, but for now it runs smoooooooth, the hydro is smooth and slick. Everything works as it should and it's 36 years old as near as I can tell.
Any comments on what this baby is worth and if it was a good WH model or what? Anything I should know about this model?

Very nice, congrats!:fing32:
It will still be cutting grass when that orange thing is in the scrap pile.
Great Stallion! Will be around for many years with just a little TLC!

Nice find, should last a very long time. You can actually pull a real trailer with that. I pull a big trailer whenever I am moving wood or picking up branches.

Sooooooo, true! I thought the same thing when I took the picture. To be honest, that "orange thing" has, so far, been a really reliable tractor, I'm hoping it'll take the major blunt of mowing and the WH can retire to more fun things, but I do plan to mow with it a bit.

I've went over it pretty well and found only a couple of minor details to attend to. It needs a new battery, the tires tubed, and really that's all I can find wrong with it. A little TLC and it should keep right on pounding!

I think the link is gone. Can you post a photo or two for the rest of us ?? :wwp:
That's really in great shape. I just picked up a 1996 265-6 and I'm starting to see what a "deal" I didn't get. The more I look at it the more things I see worn out, missing or broken.
The guy told me the neutral safety switch was bad so I was going to order one of those and noticed the wiring to it is missing as is the wiring and sockets for all the idiot lights !! Why in the world would you pull that out ??

Well, I did have one problem that has to be worked out. The seat is SLICK! I went down over the hill in the back forty, and nearly slid right off the seat. I'm not joking, I almost couldn't stay on the tractor. So, now I'm on the hunt for a better seat. I'd love to keep it all original, but I just can't live with this seat, so I'll put it up and keep it nice and get a different one!

Very nice.
Looks like you did a great job finding it. I love the classic look of the older C models. I have a 520-H that I just got but had a C model a few years back. The guy I sold it to still has and loves it.
