SR1433 rear engine mower makes noise when pushing it around without the engine runnin

I have a question about how it should sound when I push it around without the engine running. It sounds like metal rubbing in the rear of the mower. I was just wondering if this is normal? Could it be a clutch sound? I have used the mower and it seems to work fine, it just sounds like something is rubbing when it is in neutral and i push it around the garage. Do they all make noise when being pushed around even out of gear? Every other mower I have ever owned didn't make any noise in neutral.
Thanks,
Swami

check amd make sure the drive disk is not rubbing on the clutch and brake assembly.
I will have to look in the owners manual and see where those parts are at so I can tell. If it is what do I do about it our does it matter? Also, is it normal to be some sound when it is pushed around without the engine running?

thanks,
swami

Mine also makes a noise - and has since new. My last RER also had the same sound. Check all the obvious things, and don't worry about it if nothing is found.
Welcome: My 280921 makes that noise, but works ok,cant speak for all RER's though. The "SR1433" is an advertising label.when asking about parts ,adjustments, etc. give the real model number, usually on a tag on the main tube under the seat, will be like"3314XX KVE,the XX being the series number.the K being Kohler,B for B&S, H for Honda,V for overhead valves E for electric start,Earlier mowers used different letters. If you want a parts list,or service manual, some of us have them in computer, and can e-mail them to you, just ask.
Bob, I'm putting a Series 21 back together now & it has a metallic noise from the friction element of the brake pawl rubbing the brake drum/hub. There is an adjustment sequence for the clutch & brake cables which might make it better, but I think the return spring, though an interesting piece to look at, is largely ineffective. After getting the rear axle assembly rebuilt & mounted, I'm disappointed with the design of the lube supply & retention to the left bearing. If I had it to do over, I'd most certainly stick with the bushings & grease gun. As is, I'll be standing it on its tail after every mowing & pulling the outboard end of the left boot back to check/add the 00 lube. Also, there was a question some time ago regarding a 1/2" gap between the metal thrust washer at the out board end of the hex tube & the left axle bushing. The gap between my thrust washer & the left roller bearing spacer came in at 7/16" (or .44"). When I buttonholed the local dealer/mechanic, he said that was on the high side alright, but probably stemmed from damage to the hex tube caused by owner neglect/abuse (I could believe that!), & to just add the plastic thrust washers to obtain the spec of 1/32" (.06"). I bought his entire stock & had just enough.

I took some pics of the lawn mower today and posted them in the other thread I have started. The model number of my mower is 331416BVE although the briggs engine was replaced with a tecumseh engine before the guy I bought it from bought it from the snapper dealer, according to him. He also said he only had it two years and the paperwork I got from him has a date 4 yrs ago written on it. The manual that came with it said copyright 9/97 so does that mean that my mower was made in 1997 or how many years did they make the series 16? Is there somewhere else on the mower for me to know for sure how old it is? Just curious.
Swami
Snapper didn't seem to worry about years,The series 16 was built while some big changes were being made. The parts book shows an early production and a late production.the later being very similar to the series 18. There seems to be a large difference in the deck and Blade brake.compare yours to the illustrations and you will have a hint of the date of yours.look at decals also sometimes they will be different by years.
The only noise I hear when pushing my 33148kve around is the chain rattling on the gears. Not real loud, but you can hear it. I also hear the driven disk rotating as it is on the other end of the drivetrain [wheel > hex drive > differential > reduction gear > drive tube > chain > driven disk ... If I have it right] from the chain. The most noise is the chain, though.
