Does the Tecumseh OHV have a simple breather tube rather than a pcv valve? If so, that helps explain why the engine collects so much oily crud.

The overhead valve box has a rubber boot to a tube running down beside the cylinder. The lower end is not connected to anything.

The breather part on top of the valve cover has an oil separator in it to keep the big oil droplets inside the engine.

It comes off you can clean it out maybe it is sticking a bit. Mine get dirty too.
