I have a x729 about 10 years old and only 230 hours. It started running rough for a few weeks and finally died. I wasn’t getting any fuel pressure to the engine. So I replaced the fuel pump, then when I went to turn it over the relay made a awful sound (cracking and hissing) so I replaced that. Went to turn over, fuel pump primed got flow of gas to engine but relay still making awful sound and engine will not start. I can get the engine to start using starter fluid in the air intake. So I know it’s not a spark issue. Sounds like a deeper electrical issue and maybe I didn’t need to replace pump in the first place. If anyone has experience with this issue let me know.

If the relay is buzzing that means it is being switched on and off very quickly. Maybe a bad connection on the coil (control) side of the relay. It's fuel injected so there is power, the relay, ground, and a computer involved. When you turn the key on, the pump runs for 3 seconds and shuts off. When during that process does it buzz?

Its starts buzzing right after fuel pump primes. Now I’m not getting any sound from fuel pump and the relay is making that sound as soon as I turn the key half way

I see so it buzzes when it should be off. To me that seems like a computer issue unless there is a bad connection in that circuit. Has the tractor been washed or gotten wet recently?

Update, since the pump wasn’t priming. I took it as a chance to check all my electrical connections and see if it would come on. Looks like the wire to the fuel injector was slightly cut. A little electrical tape and it fired right up.

Nice! Glad you got it fixed. I'm not sure why that caused the buzzing but anyway that's great
