I have basically narrowed down my choice between these two. I was leaning towards the X590 until I saw the Black Friday promo of $800 off the X580. Similar tractors overall, the biggest differences for me would be the EFI as I plan on snowblowing but will have the tractor stored in the garage. And also the high back seat. Out of curiosity, if I purchased a 21" high back seat would it fit on the X580?

Black Friday Special prices for each:

X580 w/ 48" deck - $5459 + tax

X590 w/ 48" deck - $6759 + tax

Essentially, is the EFI and seat worth the added $1378 after tax?

The seat will fit just fine. I do not have experience with the 2 engines on the x5 series, but I do have experience with EFI Kawasaki's on a Scag ZTR. I am a fan of the EFI and they tricky feel like they make more power. In other words, if there are 2 26hp motors, the EFI seems to make a little more power than the carved version.

Also, the governor system on the x590 seems to get great reviews and really works well.

You can not go wrong either route!!!

When I purchased my X530 in 2015 (equivalent to today's X580) I had the same decision to make.
If I was making the same choice today, I would go for the X590.
Don't get me wrong, I love my 530 and have no plans to part with it.
The EFI and the high back seat on the 590 are two things I wish I had. The low back seat on the X580/530 is not built to last.
Mine developed cracks after the first year and was replaced under warranty. The new seat, after another year, now has cracks in the same places.
I'll be filing for a warranty replacement again soon.
From what I've read on this forum, the high back seat seems to last longer.
Yes, the high back seat should fit the X580. When my warranty has expired, I'll be doing exactly that.

I purchased a 580 in the spring and couldn't be happier with the choice. I have had no problems with the engine starting in cold weather, and have had no problems with anything I own that is not fuel injected in any type of weather in my lifetime. So why would the X580 have any problems in that department? It won't as long as I keep the gas clean and new.

I don't know what to say about cracking seats. The bottom and back are separated so they won't crack where they join, and the above post is the only post I've seen complaining about the seat cracking. Although, that can be typical of any seat on any tractor at any time.

Would I pay the extra for the 590? I didn't, so the answer is obviously no. Do I wish I had? Not one bit. That extra paid for the integral power sleeve hitch, terra grips, and the 48" blade. Everything else on the two tractors is the same, including the attachments they can handle.

Just curious what is the list price on both?

For simplicity sake down the road I would go with the brand new X580 w/48" deck and would jump all over it right now at the $2K under msrp price that you listed; heck that's even $1K less than a Cub Cadet XT3 GSX w/48" deck. The savings going with the X580 would pay for a lot of accessories that you may need/want. Good luck.

That's good advice you just moved me closer to the x580 thanks...

I have been more than pleased, in fact I'm still in love with my X590- its been flawless, but even I cant justify a almost 1400 dollar difference. That price for the 580 is absolutely positively outstanding. Try to buy snow blower with tractor is you can. When you do that the blower gets same 4 year warranty

Rudedawg- you have been hemming an hawing about a X500 series tractor for last 3 years--I'd jump all over that deal if I was you!! Just pull the trigger..LOL

So he's getting about 15% off list price on either one? That's good deal. I think I'll bug my dealer for the same discount or more on a 700 series to the point he gives in and throws in attachments.
No the X580 has a 800 dollar rebate, the X590 isnt covered under that sale. JD must want to reduce inventory on the 580 series - anything under 1,000 I'd say go with 590, but a 1400 dollar difference is too much to justify IMHO, that price for the 580 isnt that much more than price of a X390

Yeah I know I know but after almost 2 weeks of dealing with our JD dealers, who do not even stock the X5** series, they wouldn't attempt ordering or putting a 42" deck under the X570 so they most probably wouldn't do a 48" under the X580 either because it's not a JD option. Monday we'll be close to them so at least I'll loop by and see. Btw, the kicker is that within 15 minutes after sitting down with the sales mgr. of our local Kubota dealer I was recently approved for 0% financing whether I put a $1.00 or $5k down and given what I thought was a good price of $10.8K plus tax on a brand new BX1880 w/48" deck & loader valve. The hitch is it wouldn't be available for shipping until after 12/21/2018 which is no big deal but I can't justify a scut; the wife said just order it and quit patching on that old mower lol, so who knows???

I'd be shocked if dealer wouldn't put the 48 deck on 580--well ok surprised not shocked. That is just an outstanding price for tractor with power steering K72 etc etc --just think of all the attachments you could buy with the savings, not to mention you'd go from rudedawg- to topdawg in your neighborhood..LOL..I hope dealer "works" with you, you have been patient

The 580 can be ordered with the 48" deck as a factory option. That's what I wanted, that's what the dealer ordered, that's what I got. Fits my shed just fine. And, the 48" option should take another $200 off of the price.

I am going to talk to our closest dealer on Monday but y'all just do not realize the JD dealers we have around here. One of the larger dealership's rep was so smug and arrogant I'll never ever darken their door steps again. To cover their butts I think they wear blinders and will not think outside the box; if it's not listed on mother deere's website then it can't be done, period end of story but I'm willing to ask once more.

A few thoughts Rude-- try calling Deere direct. They will ship to local dealer, you get free delivery and local dealer will have to support the warranty. If you order directly from factory – might as well get your options installed- consider these options, HDAP tires, 21 inch seat, brush guard whatever fits your fancy - at very least calling Deere you will find out if they will build a X580 with 48 inch deck. Good luck!!!

Just do it & get it over with.
Once you've had it for 2 months you'll be mad at yourself for waiting so long as-is. At least that's how it was for me and a couple other people I know that got similar machines after a years long debate and struggle with other machinery.

My mentor stepped up to a Kubota L2800 with FEL after running a Ford 9N with no live PTO, no live hydraulics, Dutch shovel, and no power steering for 20 years. He almost cried with joy the first time he brush hogged with it!

If that's how they treat you BEFORE the sale, think how bad it will be AFTER they get your money and you need help from them for warranty or advice or something...

Tony trust me my friend, been there done that and you know my record--lol. JD's customer service response was they leave it all up to dealer discretion. If a dealer bends over backwards for a customer JD will comply no questions asked; you're at the dealer's mercy and they know it. The last sales rep I talked too in person was a really decent guy and I felt he really tried to honor my 42" deck request on the X570. I even had a list with me which included the high back seat, brush guard, sun shade & manual hitch with check book in hand so he knew I knew that money talked and bs walked. He said he would call me and did but said the now retired owner's son, who I've known for decades thru a prior long standing business relationship, would not go along with my request so I thanked him and said ok. I talked to sarge and a few other here and against my wishes decided to get the 48" deck and a deck dolly; my son and the former coworker that welds on my Cub tried to talk me out of that dealer based on negative comments they have heard from their friends but even said they would help me fab a hoist to lift the deck for servicing if I was dead set dealing with them. Ok so plan made then I went back to the dealership and the sales rep was gone and was told he had transferred to dealership way up in north MS. The guy I talked to did not know sh** from Shinola much less even what a X5** series was and the owner's son couldn't be found so I left leaving my cell number but never received another call. Sorry for the long post but this was the chain of events that led me where I'm at now with JD.

I understand that, my dad had a Snapper 1855 when we were a dealer back in the day and our family worked a garden for years because that was his passion. The only thing with the Snapper every time we hooked up the 42" bush hog it would destroy the rear pto pulleys & belts so he gave the bush hog to an employee to use on his 9n lol.
