john deere 318 pto

I have 1987 318 i have replaced the switch already and don't want to continue to just change parts. With switch on i can jump the wires to the pto and i can turn the pto on and off but as soon as open the seat safety i can not get the pto to work again after i close the switch unless i jump the switch again. Any ideas?
