I bought a John Deere 210, And I cut grass with it many times and then the PTO Clutch shorted out. I tried fixing the clutch that didn't work. I tired disconnecting it and that didn't work. So I rewired the whole tractor as if it was a manual pto clutch tractor. That didn't work. So I got a new coil, points and condenser, new key switch and light switch. Now when I hook the battery up it pegs negative. Any ideas on what to look for or test for to find the problem?

You took on quite the undertaking, sounds like you need a test light and volt meter and recheck everything, a complete wire harness swap would probably been easier than rewriting tractor. I done similar work wiring up a 210, however that was thirty years ago
