I loved My 165 until it stopped running. It has a FB460V motor I have worked on small engines most of my life but have never come across something like this.
I can get it started after cranking it for about 4 or5 minutes then it will restart unless i leave it setting longer then 5 or 10 minutes then it is back to cranking it and 99% of the time i have to hook up the battery charger.
I bought a used carb rebuilt it and does the same thing so I called the local john Deere repair shop and they said to check the compression that it should be 43 or better is this true?. the compression is 30 to 40 so he said to adjust the valves. the problem is I have never had to do this to a small engine.
Then I was told that it could be a timing gear that is made of plastic ?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
