I've never had a Jeep,if I could find one for cheap I would though..I bought many GM 4x4's instead, they were common as flies on manure here and were readily avalable cheaply due to them rusting so quickly..
Jeeps here seem to demand a high price, especially CJ's..the newer Cherokees are not as overvalued,I have had a chance to buy a few for around 1000 bucks, and I like the 4.0 straight sixes and the fact I haven't seen hardly any with rusty undercarriages, they hold up very well compared to other brands.
I'm not a big fan of the axles Jeeps used though, they seem weak and troublesome ,my friend had a lot of grief with the tapered rear axle shafts on his '78 CJ-5 snapping when he plowed, and those hubs can be a bear to get off..I'd swap in some beefier axles if I had a Jeep and had any trouble with them..I had a few scary rides in that CJ-5,the short wheelbase and quick turns over 30 mph,are NOT a good combination!..I recall going around a exit ramp on the highway nearby at 45 mph,on only one or two wheels once, when my friend almost "missed" the exit and decided to take it at the last second!..GULP!..the soft top's plastic "doors" didn't inspire much confidence either!...
