What does it take/cost to convert a 2 way to 4 way?

If you buy everything from the dealer new about $450.00, $300 + just for the cylinder. But I did it for $160 by buying the cylinder off of ebay (on a good day!). I did have to buy the two brackets though and that was $140.00. If I had to do it over again I would just sell my two way and buy a 4 way on ebay! I didn't save anything doing it the way you're considering.
I upgraded my 54'' 2 way to 4 way for the price of two new hoses. I made my own mounts and used a 318 rockbar cylinder that was handy. This cylinder has the same travel as the ''correct'' cylinder but it is one inch longer over all.
There is a guy making the brackets on WFM. All together with cylinder was just over $200.00
Isn't it easier / cheaper to just find a 4-way blade which you can find for $300 - $500 depending on how nice it is or what time of year you are buying it?

Around here the 4 ways start at $500-.I found a really clean 2 way the guy is asking $300- for.If i can get it for about $250-,then add the other piston later it'll be easier on my wallet :fing32:.I'll check out the kit on WFM.
I have picked up two different 2-way 54's in great shape, one for $150.00 and the other for $175.00.
Yes it is worth it to buy a two-way blade if you can get a good deal on it.
The 150.00 blade was also white:fing32:
Here are the brackets I made and it shows how the 318 rear cylinder look on the blade. Rear cylinders are a dime a dozen and I had one handy to use but this way it will be easy/cheap to find a replacement i it goes bad.

They are pretty easy to find in central/northeast PA for $350. I've passed on at least 2 of them at this point. IMO you would need the to get the 2-way for more like $150-$200, but it sounds like a fun project none the less.
There was a guy selling a 4 way with a bad cylinder in Southern NH for $200 last week. I almost snagged it but I already have one!
I'd keep your current blade, and then in the summer next year, start looking for a 4way. I picked up mine off Craigs List, and I think it was around $450.00. WELL worth every penny!
