JD 318 Restore with Buford Bucket Install

5255 Views 20 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  slkpk
I thought I'd post my progress on my 318 restoration plus the addition of my new Buford Bucket! I'll keep adding photos as I have them. Thanks Pete for the bucket! I've owned the tractor for about 12 years, but I've had it stored until about a month ago when I started the restoration.

Nice job! I think the Buford would fit my 317 better than your 318, I will meet you in Wichita for it. :biglaugh::biglaugh:JK of course.
I would like some good pictures of it and some measurements so I can build one similar to it this summer. :thThumbsU
Looking great!...I like the progression pics.
Looks great! :thanku: for the pics!
You are doing a really good job! Did you paint with rattle cans or a mix your paint and use a sprayer?
Love the Buford Bucket! :thanku:
Can't wait to see it in action!

Took my time and tried to do a decent job with the rattle cans by applying 3-4 coats and overlapping about 50% on each pass. I will say the $5 sprayer attachment from Lowes is the best $5 I've spent in a longtime. Allows you to control the spray really well so if your reading this look into it. I also kept the paint in a hot bucket of water before painting each coat so it sprayed decent. Not perfect, I'm not a painter by trade. Its going to get used and I have 3 kids that will probably climb all over it so I need to be able to quickly touch it up so I just rattle canned it. :thThumbsU

Looking REAL nice!

Nice tip!

Assuming summertime, I let the cans sit in the sun to heat them up, makes a big difference!

Looks great. :trink39::trink39:
New seat from Northern Tool... $35 and it's a Deere product. Online something similar is around $90.

Added hook to bucket for using a log chain, etc.

Pete Liskey is who built my loader for me. Great guy, easy to deal with and honest. Search hoosierpete on the forum and send him a PM.

Thanks

Did my best with a power sander and by hand.
Weight box installed. Basically the project is complete now. Up next will be some action shots when I have time.

I'm looking for a smoking deal on some bar tires if you have a pair.
Very nice! I'm looking at doing the exact same thing with a 318 to complement my x530. I'd like to rebuild a worn down one and eventually toss on a FEL just so I can have a machine with a FEL at the house for small things.
