Hope this reply isn't too late...
These engines were designed to run 16:1Thanks so much. This does help a lot. I am tearing into it now.

Good luck trying to find a manual... The Lawn Queen is about as close as you can easily find nowdays...I recently bought an Pacer 18"" engine on ebay. It turns over, has spark and all in all in pretty good shape. I know I can get it up and running but need info on things like:
-Compression ratio
-Oil-fuel mixing ratio
-Plug type and gap
-Torque specs
-location of points (if there are any)
and any other info you may have. If I could get a hold of a copy of the service manual that would help tremendously.
Thanks in advance.

I know, just figured I'd expand on what it has.... just fyi, this is a 9 year old thread, and DaninWaxhaw hasn't logged into the site since 2015...
