It was my day for a MF-8

I've been looking for a grille and breather for a MF-8 Hydro for a friend and wanting to order a new engine for my MF-8 3 speed. I was taking a different way home and went through a little town called Sperry, Oklahoma, when there it was right in someone's yard all bright and shiny, original seat, new motor. A MF-8 Hydro, cardboard taped to it said 200 or "bist ofer". I ne-go-she-ated the lady with no teeth down to 182.50, and borrowed some wrought iron posts from the neighbors yard and drove the thing into the back of my van. Somedays I just poop diamonds. pics to follow

To arrive at 182.50, you must have done some intense haggling!

Yup, 182.50, never seen one with the original metal seat pan. that gives me a 1966 MF-14 with hydraulic 3 point, and two 1968? MF-8's, one geared, one hydro, just missing a grille and air breather I gave to a friend. I've got another MF-14 with a blown motor I'm picking up next week for 75 bucks and it's in great shape, with a nice 48 inch deck and three point. I have to be stopped, HEHE

It was intense, not for the money, just for the fun to watch her lips flap around her gums, I almost burst out laughing when she countered at 199.00 the first time, and I had to roll with the bidding, purposely went to change amounts just to hear and watch her try to get out a counter without spewing spit all over
It really freaks me out the deals some of you guys find in the states. Up here you would pay a good 600.00$ for a mf that clean or not! Great find.:thThumbsU
I have 3 mf12's and 1 mf7 .....2 of the 12's are hydro and 1 is vari-speed and I have about $300 in all with some front and rear tires and a 14hp tec and some wheel weights throwed in
"HOW" do you sleep at night ??? and if you poop diamonds, come on over and take a diamond in my back yard would ya ! I just posted some MF8 parts on ebay, ones a straight grill and nice exhaust ....Good luck with you find ,Jim

Nice find. That 8 looks to be in much better than average shape. They are rare in these parts and tend to fetch a good price. The repower engine fits really nicely there. Can you tell me what engine was used? I have a 3 speed 8 that I am rebuilding and the engine is pretty rough. Still havent decided if I will repower or not. Maybe try to fit a 6hp diesel in there but it will probably be a lot of work.

Cheers
Brian
First the engine was an exact replacement 8hp TEC from the tag. They never bothered to hook up the electric start, I will. I was on my way to Eureka Springs Arkansas to get married and decided to to do a little junk shopping and found another MF-8 Hydro complete, sitting in the tall grass, in the back of my local Massey dealers lot, and brought it home for 50 bucks. BTW, I paid 600 for my 3 speed, and my buddy paid 650 for his MF-8 Hydro with a Massey trailer. and neither of us gave a second thought for paying that much for clean one owner MF-8s. I drove 200 miles for mine, he drove a little over 400. It's nice to find a couple within walking distance. How much for the grille or give me the link. Does anyone want a new parts book for a MF8e the little yellow 8 Executives they made before the red&silver 135 styled machines, I'll let it go for 10 bucks plus a little postage. Thanks guys, you're all great, Mike
BTW I found complete short blocks with head and valves for 185 INCLUDING shipping, I was going to order mine the evening I found the 8 Hydro
I put my glasses on, the re-power engine was a 10hp TEC on the little MF-8, it's the one I've got torn down for a "minor" resto project. I paid 5 or 6 hundred for my MF-8G, it was a one owner and in great shape, and I thought it was a fair price.
