That is a compliance model with an F engine, which means it is a post-1983 model. It has a steel deck. Most Lawn-Boy's have staggered decks. But, some times "4-square" decks, like the one in the ad, are very nice. You can mulch or bag with it, and possibly even side discharge. The F engine is powerful and simple. Make sure it runs good and look closely at every inch of the deck for damage, as Lawn-Boy steel decks are prone to it. Hope this helps!:thThumbsU

Maybe before starting it, pull the plug wire off (or pull the plug right out and get a look into the cylinder) then grab the blade with both hands and try moving it back and forth, looking for any play left and right, also up and down while you're at it. If you were getting it to collect (which I'm SURE you're not...YET, lol...) simply starting would suffice but since you're only getting this first one (ha ha) to actually use, you'll want to get to know it first.

You might actually consider one of the 70's models 19" or 21"models as a trimmer since they are extremely lightweight and much easier to manuver around objects as well as in and out of your vehicle/trailer...

Just my two cents though, that mower is a great one for sure. If 20 guys offer their opinion here you'll get 10-15 different views which is what I love about this forum. That way you get to have a wide variety to choose from and all angles and levels of knowledge...

Sorry if I "over-responded" lol...

OK thanks for the info. By the way who made the engine and are parts easy to get?
It's Lawnboy's own engine, designed by their parent company Outboard Marine Corporation. Parts are still available from many sources.

Well someone beat me to this. The good news is the women has another LB without the bagger which is fine for the same price. Its a model 7073 and she said she will have it running by 5pm to look at. Yep she gets old mowers and fixes and sells them. She said she is more of a briggs expert but someone gave these to her to sell.

Got to love America.

Well she ended up having both mowers and both decks had some rot holes in them so I passed. She said she has an old friend who is retired from the lawn business and he has a bunch of lawn boys but not sure if they run. I told her to get 1 or 2 with the big tanks and aluminum bodies.

She will let me know over the weekend what she finds.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.
