I have a John Deere GX85 lawnmower. I am tired of having to replace the fuel pump every 3-6 months.

Here is what I want to do: I want to build a bracket over the top of the motor to raise the fuel tank (current one has crack in it) and convert this 13HP briggs and stratton to a gravity fed system with a fuel line cutoff.

In other words I want to eliminate the fuel pump and go to a gravity fed system.

What kind of fuel pump are you replacing every 3-6 months...service life on even the cheapest plastic pump is around 500 hours, or 5-7 years, if not more.

Before I'd go to that extreme I'd go for one of these, http://tinyurl.com/crh5xe2 Facet Solid State Electronic Fuel Pump close to the top of the page.
Dave's great to deal with also.

If you're determined to raise the fuel tank, it would work as you need very little pressure to get past the needle......Mike
