It seems like this year on this forum the questions being asked are dumber than normal. I have seen question so lame that I have to wonder how that person ever figured out where the gas went in. I could understand if this was a forum for 4th grader but were adults here. I have not given any examples not wanting to offend anyone. Some advice before you ask.
1- Read your owner manual if you don't have one get one.
2- Most everything on a John Deere is metric so get some metric tools
3- The most important one think about what you are asking.:thanku:

Not knowing something is not the same as asking really stupid question, so think before you type it in.
I'm going to get it for this I'll bet.

IMHO.... It's the dead area between mowing and snow blowing, and too cold for Restorations. That only leaves dumb questions to keep the conversation going.

Wait till late winter just before mowing again, Cabin Fever sets in and everybody is at each others throats. :Disgus:
BTW are Big Box JD's made by MTD in China??:sidelaugh:sidelaugh:sidelaugh

The stupid question is the one that is not asked, like PA guy said...

Feel free to ask away, as we all learn, and NONE of us know EVERYTHING, but everyone knows SOMETHING!!

As I learn more and more on this site, questions I might of asked before I was a member sometimes seem obvious. It's a learning curve. Some are farther ahead of others on that curve. We're not going to make fun of people new to the forum for that reason. I'm here to help when and where I can.

I personally feel that JD should outsource production of the entry level mowers. The price point they are trying ..............

I have undoubted been guilty of asking "dumb" questions on this site. But I don't recall ever being called on the carpet for it, instead I got help and guidance from nice people. Because of that, hopefully I ask fewer dumb questions now. :fing32:

As any experienced Tractor hobby supporter knows, there are no dumb questions, we all have asked questions we should have known the answer to at some point when we were learning. I recall a time when I asked "if I put a carburetor where the muffler is, can I ru nthe engine backwards"...and I know now that that is simply not possible, but I ASKED someone who already knew and they explained why.

Never be stingy with your knowledge, never act "better than though" and no one likes a know it all....we are all here for the same reason, we like this hobby. All the knowledge and experience in the world is useless unless you share it.

Y'see, I enjoy coming to MTF, because no matter WHAT or WHOSE question I see coming through, its an order of magnitude smarter of a question than the ones I deal with 8 hours a day at work! None of which are dumb questions EITHER, just that I get the same ones over and over and over again, from the same people, at the start or end of every school term. I've been doing the job for long enough now that I can actually PREDICT what questions will come in when.... And SOMEONE in management ALWAYS asks "How come these people AREN'T reading the instructions?!?!"

To answer your question...no... I don't see there being a rise in "dumb questions" being asked as of late.

Ive asked some doozies in the past...thats for SURE!

But...let me ask you this: Were you born with the knowledge you presently have, or was it a process of LEARNING...partially obtained through ASKING...that got you to your present level of knowledge?

But, if you had a skidoo, all you would have to do is shift in to reverse, and the engine actually does run backwards. :) (quickly shuts down, then starts in reverse.) Being belt driven, that is the easiest way for them to back up.
