Hello every one, been a while since I made my one post a while back about the restoration on our B414.

Pics

We did not use it for a while after loaning it to our drunken neighbor who used our finish mower on his rock garden and grenaded the gear box....:banghead3

We just got a smoking deal on a new Woods RD8400 that had been sitting outside a dealers lot for a few years, paint on top going bad, but it had never cut a blade of grass. :trink39:

It seems to work really well, but I am wondering what the gear box rating on the Woods RD8400 is, does any body know?

The B414 is rated at 36.7 PTO HP, and I have heard that the gear box for the Woods is 35 or 40 or 60 and I can not seem to find it on the Woods site.

Any help on the rating for the Woods RD8400 gearbox would be, well, helpful. :thThumbsU

I would not worry about the rating, I could not find it either. You gotta figure the manufacturer designed the gearbox to handle the loads the mower will encounter while in use reguardless of what tractor is pulling it. You know it is not designed to mow rock gardens even if the neighbors don't.

Blown,
There are two different gearboxes used on the RD8400's. The smaller round box is rated for 40 horsepower. The larger box with Woods cast into the box is rated for 60 horsepower. The B-section belt is only good for about 40 horsepower and will protect the gearbox from overload.
