Hello, this is my first post.

I am over in Sweden and I bought an International 956XL 4WD with a gearbox fault. I think they have run it low on oil and there is at least 1 bearing which is bad so it needs a full strip down. Is this something that is doable at home ? I have never been inside a gearbox before, have rebuilt plenty of engines and other stuff, just never in a gearbox. I have the manual and it looks fairly simple, but I dont know if I am biting off more than I can chew.

Wondered if anyone has ever done one or a similar box and how difficult was it ?

Thanks for any advice

I Never worked on one so I don't know what's involved. Check your manual for any special tools needed. I would think the most critical part would be the tooth contact on the ring and pinion if you need to go that far into it.
