Some interesting facts about Yanmar Tractors and Diesel Engines:

1. All Yanmar tractors are diesel. Yanmar never made a gasoline version.

2. Yanmar built the world's first small diesel engine, the HB model, in 1930. And have been building diesel engines ever since including some enormous diesel engines for marine applications. These larger marine engines used the world’s first combustion system called “ASSIGN” (Available Space, Scattering Injection, Geometric Nexus), which incorporated the new technologies of high dispersion nozzles and a deep bowl-type combustion chamber, features that led to enhanced fuel economy, reduced emissions and ceased smoke emission.

3. 6KE-HT marine propulsion engine (400 hp) - the first fresh-water cooling system, which used fresh water to cool the engine, and then used seawater to cool the heated fresh water. Was completed in October 1975. By using fresh water, which could be stored at much higher temperatures than previously used seawater, mechanical and cooling loss was prevented, resulting in reduced fuel consumption.

4. Yanmar built the compact tractors for John Deere for almost 30 years. If you look under the hood of many compact John Deere tractors you fill find a Yanmar diesel engine.

5. After being out of the US tractor market for almost 30 years, Yanmar is now selling tractors in the USA again. At first, under the Cub Cadet/Yanmar brand and now under their own brand.

6. The early Yanmar were painted a dull lime green color. Turns out that color was not very popular here in the USA so they changed it after a few years to a deep red. The red is between the dark red Massey color and the brighter red Case IH red.
