In A Cloud Of Dust (old grass)

Well!. What can you say for March 5, 2012 and a JD345 with full tank of gas waiting patiently in the garage for the door to open and turn of the key. Time to mow that is. With some green grass showing through the old dead grass and leaves needing to be chewed to dust, that is what I have done today. My wife commented that the 345 and me on the seat looked like "a cloud of dust."
Anyway, the 345 ran just great after sleeping all winter in the garage under a nice blanket. Mowed about two acres with new mower blades chew up the leaves from the 70 trees we have in the yard. Most of the leaves were from 35 ash, 25 maples, and 10 pines trees. Those pine needles are very difficult to chew up. Had to make at least ten passes to get the needles in small bits.

Did note my Tiny Tach didn't work. At least not 363 something at 1950 rpms. Didn't expect it to last more than a year, anyway.
So, that the report her in my neck of the woods....

It will be 6 weeks or more before we start mowing here. It is interesting to learn when mowing season starts in other parts of the country the season here is usualy late april-early nov., 6 months give or take a couple weeks. Might be an easy mowing season around here very dry winter.
I cut about 1/2 acre of a field at the local Salvation Army property just for kicks this afternoon after I got my 400 out of the shop having the governor and carb reworked. Then went and cut my brother in laws front yard after having the carb readjusted. SO it wont be long before mowing season is in full swing around here. But first I have two plow day events to attend before I put the mower deck back on for the summer.

Depending on the weather, it should be about 3 weeks and grass season will be here!!! Time to go buy some pre-emergent to spread next week after cutting some plugs in the yard.
Covered in snow in Fargo, ND yet.
:thThumbsU grass will be flyin here in about 3 weeks my guess. I just got my new 48" Plug aerator today.:trink39: $148 shipped.... I thought it should have come with a can of GREEN paint. Going this weekend to get some crabgrass preventer, 100lbs. of seed, and 6 bags of fertilizer. Hope shopping cart holds it all.
