OK, the tiny parking brake on a tubeframe is lousy. The pads on mine were so worn they could barely hold the tractor on the very slight garage slope.

After WAY too much fussing, I simply added a pair of 3/8 fender washers to take up the slack. While I was pretending to be a contortionist, I re-bent the brake linkage so it fit better.

I would appreciate any better ideas so I can hold the tank on a slope. I was thinking of a pin engaging a sprocket (big bike sprocket?) on one of the wheels.

(I think I have to blow out the crud from the tubeframe. Mouse cannon!)

That is the brake disc. Jason
Jason, it makes me wonder. Is that disk supposed to be loose and slide a bit on the shaft? That would make the brakes function better, otherwise, only the outer pad is really putting pressure on the disc.

(Aside: I am still considering a parking pawl to absolutely hold the tractor. The tightened brakes hold it and an attachment on a slight slope, but no more than that. You gear guys don't have to worry because the worm gear holds it.)
