I have the subject tractor. Low oil pressure light comes on a lot, but when a (borrowed) oil pressure diagnostic gauge is connected, pressure is fine, leading us to believe sensor is bad. Engine is a 4-cyl Mazda. Would love to purchase inexpensive after-market oil pressure gauge and mount on tractor, but diameter and thread pitch of sensor are not standard 1/4" or 1/8" as is sold with these gauges. Thread pitch is obviously a fine, metric. (Adapter that came with borrowed gauge worked fine, but no markings for us to identify for purchase.) Thought we might use a Mazda automobile oil pressure sensor, but which Mazda engine is similar/identical to the one in the tractor? Would rather have a gauge anyway, but would settle for a replacement sensor if we must. Tried local IH store. Tractor is still listed with some parts available, but not the sensor. Tried on line for antique/used tractor parts, but frequently 284 is not even listed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hang loose! Found an adapter set on line which may do what I want. Have ordered it and will test with mechanical OP gauge. If it works, problem solved (unless tractor actually has low oil pressure, in which case trade or tear-down!) Will post results here, in case it will help others. (Not sure how this post ended up in Cub Cadet forum! Not my intent, but my error apparently!) I think it belongs on subcompact IH forum, if it exists. Thanks.
