I finally decided to get a tool chest to consolidate my tools and maybe free up some space elsewhere. I got my coupon for the brand new "Series 2" US General and headed to the store. They said they had two green ones left and came out with an 8 drawer 26x22 cabinet, the perfect size. So I showed my coupon, paid my money and was on my way.

I spent about an hour putting it together last night and noticed right away that mine does not have "Series 2" on the front like the one in the ad, and on my coupon. I called the store and the person who answered the phone was the same one who sold me the chest. He acted like he'd never heard of the "Series 2". I asked what the difference was between the old and style and he had no idea. Then he said retail stores weren't going to get the Series 2 for at least 6 months. That is when my BS alarm went off. I am certain they will take this one back, and it is very nice, but I'd like to get what I paid for, and I smell a cattle car somewhere.

The series 2 was advertised as available over a year ago. What you received was the "shut up and go away" answer. Take it back.

It's called bait and switch. a common sales tactic. I would either take a credit for the difference in price or return it and demand my money back.

Well, I feel a little better now. I went to HF today. The first employee I spoke to gave me the deer in the headlights stare and admitted he had no clue about the Series 2 cabinets, but he had the presence of mind to get the manager. The manager came out and said he couldn't explain why the cabinets he has don't say Series 2 on them, but they are the new model cabinets and he went through the new features. For the record, he said the new cabinets are supposed to have better wheels (but he honestly didn't see much difference), better ball bearing drawer runners that extend farther out, two sets of runners on the larger drawers and the cabinets are deeper. In fact he told me a story about a customer that had the older base cabinet and came in and bought the "matching" top chest. He returned the top chest because it stuck out over the narrower, older base cabinet!

I started filling the chest with tools. I can see this is going to be like my new shed and will fill up way too fast. I'm already waiting for the top chest to go on sale!

A new HF store is coming to my town only 3 miles away..have heard rumors for nearly a year they were going to open one at a former "Benny's" home & auto store ,that was in business for 50+ years--the owners of the chain sold all their stores in MA and RI ,one of them in Wareham MA is already a HF store that opened late last fall..

I am happy there will be one close by finally, before the three stores closest were a good 15+ miles away ...since Benny's closed up last summer,it has left a large "hole" as far as anyplace else selling similar items for lower prices, they carried a lot of things the big box stores don't locally..

I hope to get a rolling tool chest at HF,one of the ones they sell for about $180 on sale..
My old Blue Point "tackle Box" style tool box is stuffed so full I cant close it up half the time and I'm tired of having to empty half the tools out to find the one wrench I need way at the bottom of the box..its too heavy to lift too..

I probably have enough tools now to fill two or three of those tool chests, but I'm only getting one for the "good tools",and I'll put the other less valuable ones in the old tool bax..I have like 3 carry around craftsman tool boxes that are full of various sockets and tools too,its time to get them all organized..
