This afternoon an old MTD hydrostatic, twin with mower deck appeard on the Craig, about 4 miles away, so off I go. It's a beater, ran some time ago, he says, but here's the deal:

He has a BIG yard full of same caliber or worse, says "he fixes them" yet none of them look like they are "getting fixed" anytime soon, and he really didn't just jump when I asked if he was junking any out. What ARE ya savin 'em fer, anyhow?

Now I hoard my share of junk, but ..........

For some reason there are a LOT of these places around...I think that the owners must be related.

I recently checked out a repair shop that advertised used garden tractor parts as I was looking for a 2nd set of wheels (wider). He thought that he had a set around but when he finally dug them out they were not only narrower than what I was looking for, but they looked like they had been through a war. The kicker was that he thought that they were worth $50 EACH! (List on brand new 3200 wheels is $88 each).

I just added it to the list of things I don’t understand…
