on my 72 sears the carb leaks around the throttle shaft and drips a little gas. so i got an idea on how to prevent gas to ruin the paint on my frame. i did some measuring before i left to go shopping. i can fit a rectangular container under the carb 3 inches wide. so i knew what i could look for, and i found it. small loaf bread pans 3 inches by 5.75 by 2 inches deep. it fits really well just have to bend the lip of pan down. now i thought about it ill use velcro to hold it in place. i figure i should not have to empty it because its the normal fuel drip that all the updraft briggs have and it really dont drip much and it will dry up quick.

Would you rather have a drip that evaporates, or be carrying an open bucket of gasoline around a hot engine?
good point use to drip alot more than it does now right now it seems to seep out the throttle shaft on start up. but before i took carb apart and changed a couple seals it use to drip around mixture screw and bowl body.

bill your right. sometimes i just need someone elses opinion on stuff. i think ill run her and put up with the drip and keep an eye on it i also thought about throwing a rag down there but quickly changed my mind on that because rag could melt unles i wipe the area down after running it. i really dont use it for long periods of time in summer because i really dont want to overheat the cast iron engine. it mainly gets used in spring fall and winter :)

Do you have a problem with overheating? If the engine is clean and all the tins are in place, overheating shouldn't be much of a problem. Or is the carb out of adjustment?
