I have a 1250 large frame hydro was rebuilt and assembled wrong by the previous owner. I was wondering if anyone had a parts break down of the hydro?
do you have the unit on the bench? in the tractor- what is it doing? there is not many moving parts in that hydro- I have had these apart and did some work on them if you give a little more detail maybe I could help-
Well the tractors does not run and it does not move obviously but 5 years ago the guy said he rebuilt the motor and tranny but when he put it back together he said it did not move. A year ago when I did get it running the tranny was not building up any pressure so I led me to the shoes in the hydro they must be backwards they are very easy to mix up when rebuilding the hydros if you don't mark them. I was just looking for something to go by when I tear into the hydro I has been so long since I have rebuilt one.so the tractor runs but does not move?
Thanks for the help the slippers are in wrong in mine so I have to tear it apart on a rainy day and swap them.I don't believe there is a complete breakdown of the Eaton 12 anywhere. Eaton never let that one out. I don't know what your symptoms are but there could be many things wrong. Pete and Don Duff know a lot about them too. There are some posts on this forum with info from them. They are very helpful. I've had mine all apart in the past to replace a few orings and seals. I did an inspection while I was in there. I sent pic's to the Duffs and they let me know if my parts needed replacement or machining. Best of luck with yours.
I Thank you for the manual I printed it out it will come in handy for sure. Thanks againThis is the manual for the Eaton 12 (if that is what you have)... click here...
The last two pages show a drive pin that is easy to lose/misplace when the unit is tore down (don't ask me how I know).
If someone played around with the slippers then the balls in the rotor may not be in their original positions. That is a MUST when these things are taken apart. Everything is ground to fit in it's original bore. Just a thought as I'd hate to see you spend a ton of time on it, thinks it's good, put it together and it don't work well. The only problem with the Eaton 12 is that they are getting harder to find other than that they are usually bullet proof. Thanks for the help the slippers are in wrong in mine so I have to tear it apart on a rainy day and swap them.
Thank you

Thanks for the info I may just put an extra hydro I have in it and just keep that one for a rainy day your probably right the balls are probably in wrong also. I will split it openanyway just for fun. Yeah just like everything else Bolens some stuff you can find but some stuff oyu just can't the Eaton 12 are very nice hydros though. If someone played around with the slippers then the balls in the rotor may not be in their original positions. Yes that I bet is the exact problem because it is not building up pressure then in turn causes it not to moveAn Eaton 12 don't have balls in it. It has a piston with a slipper on the end of the piston. If the piston was not put back into its original hole this could be your problem. They have to slide in and out with centrifuial force. If they don't by trying them by hand lube them with some auto trans fluid. Auto trans fluid has a cutting action to it.I would be willing to guess that someone didn't get that itty bitty drive pin in there. I have tried as many as 3 times before it stayed where I wanted it to.
