Well after 250 hours of absolutely zero leeks I finally had one happen. I just hit right at 250 hrs and had just finished a 2 hr full-power lawn mowing in 2WD. I put it in the garage and got off to notice a pretty fast drip of hydro fluid coming out of a bolt on the bottom of the rear differential directly behind the filter facing straight down towards the ground. It's not the drain plug but I'm not sure what that bolt is even there for. It must have just started when I caught it as the loss on my concrete was only about a table spoon worth & the level is still good in the sight glass.
When I checked, the bolt was slightly loose so I turned it back to snug, not hugely tighten down, just snugged up as I didn't want to strip the housing. I have run it since but havn't gotten it hot yet---no leaks so far.

Couple of questions:
1) Anyone else seen this from that bolt?
2) What does that bolt hold or do?

Looks like a drain plug to me, too. Sometimes there is more than one drain plug on a transmission or engine.

Or maybe that is a location for plumbing a transmission oil cooler?

On my 2006 2305 it is an allen wrench type plug. It was leaking after a hydraulic leak repair at the dealer. I assumed they removed it to drain the transmission instead of removing the drain plug and never snugged it up. It was wrapped with teflon tape. I gave it a 3/4 turn and it hasn't leaked since. At first I thought it was the Transmission filter leaking since it was wet at its seal but it was this plug.

So far the dealer has replaced the 3-pt hitch drop rate control assembly due to a leak in a plug between it's bottom and the transmission case and a hydraulic line copper washer leak near the SCV valve. So far, no leaks anywhere during this heatwave....

I never thought of teflon tape:fing32: I'll see if it starts again & if it does I'll put tape on it & tighten it a touch more.
