I bought a 1975 990 hydrostatic MTD Farm King and runs awesome love the tractor , im wondering if anyone and help me solve why my hydraulic mechanism dont work , the 3 point hitch on back wont lift my weight or any amount of weight

The first thing I'd check is your fluid level in the hydro unit. The hydraulics run off that (the hydrostatic pump), and if the fluid is low, you won't have much lift. Check your hydrauliccylindar for leaks. If fluid is bypassing the seals, you won't have much lift. Lastly, check the control valve and all lines for leaks. It should raise you (provided you don't go beyond the factory rating of 500#) without a problem.

Also...

Will the lift arms move under pressure (can you raise or lower them by hand, and, by extension, actuate the cylinder)? If so then your valve is toast and will need a rebuild.

Also:
Check to make sure the valve bracket isn't bent. Mine was bent so the valve handle didn't have the full motion back-N-forth. Wouldn't raise anything but it would lower.
