....is somewhat contradictory. Looking for Husky experts.

So the LS has the heavier frames and fab decks and the XLS has (had?) a stamped deck but not anymore....

Is there any performance difference between a YT prefix and a YTH?

I tried a Big Box "Fast Tractor" (YTH24K48) and returned it. I am looking at the YT42XLS and the YTH48V24LS (kawi).
YT42XLS = 42" fab deck, 2-blade, 23HP V-twin Kawi FR691, auto diffy lock
YHT48V24LS = 48" fab deck with 2 more anti-scalp wheels, 3-blade, 24HP V-twin Kawi FR730, auto diffy lock

I don't really need a 48" cut but the price difference is only $212.

Is there a reason the YTH48V24LS is not listed on the MFG website? Discontinued?

* also was asking about the Kawi FR691 vs. the FR730, they appear the same!

The two local dealers have not been that helpful on Husky's offerings. I am being told that basically everything is the same sans the cutting deck width (the same motor quality, fab of deck, 2 blades VS 3 performance, differential, frame gauge, etc,)

thanks!!

It looks like your 48" model# is way off. They usually start with a YT or YTH, not YHT. They also usually have the engine HP before the deck size, so a more correct version of your 48" model would be YTH24V48LS. Husqvarna does have owner's manuals and IPLs in their support site for this modified model #. The 48" appears to be a late 2011/early 2012 model.

The YT42XLS shows AYP's old stamped frame instead of the c-channel rail configuration of their newer lineup. Obviously you can't use the model # to figure out which frame they're using.

Both appear to have the Tuff-Torq K46 which some have complained about. It's probably fine for mowing and occasional light cart pulling but nothing more.

Have you looked into the YTH18K46? It has the 2-bladed 46" deck and a Kawasaki motor. It still has the TT K46, though. It looks like you have to step up to their GT line to get access to Hydro-Gear transaxles now. In that range the TT units used are perfectly fine.

As for motors, there's probably not much difference since they're both FR series.

Thank you for the response. You are correct in my intended PN.....I am dyslexic.

I wanted differential lock option for a 42" snowblower. My other duty is just pulling lawn carts.

I noted that the YTH42XLS added wider tires, a fabricated deck, and Kawi motor for a few hundred more $. I figured that with the auto diffy lock option these would have stronger transaxle units. It appears that this was a ill assumption.

I have the 24K48 now and like it, but Kawa's are just much smoother and quieter. Oil seems to settle in the Courage, too. If I don't use it for more than 1 week it'll blow blue smoke at startup. Most people come to forums to complain or seek help with problems, so we're obviously going to see more bad than good here, but there are a lot of complaints about the TT K46 transaxle. The diff-lock is a version of that model but I don't know what internals have changed or what the weak components were to begin with.
