Well I bought a used Huskee Gt supreme 54" cut 26hp briggs knowing it needed work. It is a 2004 808K model. Started out repairing trans and still having issues with the variable drive. Now it won't start. It started weak before I put a new battery, solenoid, and starter on it and it was still starting weak after this. When I would turn the key it would turn slowly then it would kick over like it is supposted to. So I ignored this issue while working on the variable drive until the other day when I was testing it mowing and it just cut out and wouldn[t start. The engine after doing a complete tuneup and carb rebuild ran awesome but it is now not getting spark. Do you think the intermittent slow starter and no spark could be related somehow? Is there a ground from the motor that could be bad? I will probably start checking for continuity tomarrow but has anyone else had issues like this? Where should I start. The variable drive issues are on hold until I get it running again, that's a whole other issue. I am running out of patience with this machine.

Update. I removed the kill wires on the coils and still no spark. I would assume the coils are bad. So what would cause the coils to go bad while running like that? I hate to replace them to have the same thing happen? I did notice my battery cables were loose, could that have caused my issue? And when testing for continuity at coil kill wires what do I hook my leads up to? One would go to the coil kill wire and the other goes where?
