ht20 & trencher attachment-something is missing?-whats wrong with this picture?

Ok...I am pretty excited...I bought a bolens ht20 with a trencher attachment....the guy I bought it from...only owned it for a short time...and never used the trencher....he thinks there is suppose to be a 10 hp engine on the trencher...but I think its missing the 540 reduction gear box that reduces the pto speed to 540 rpm to operate the trencher...but this is the first trencher I have seen for bolens...and I do not even know the brand or model number...but I have heard of a bulldog 360 attachment for bolens..ok...now I have a lot of questions...would this be a a bulldog 360 trencher?...are my suspicions correct that it is missing the 540 gearbox?...would anyone know who would have the 540 gearbox for sale?...any information would be great...I am in the dark about this trencher...thanks!!

Looks like it would just come off your mid pto with a shaft that would run to a missing gearbox on your trencher. 540rpm or not, dont know

gearbox as in a sprocket that the chain would run over and the the pto shaft would connect to

Mikebremel...its a chain drive?...would you have any more details?..I really do not know for sure what is missing...so can not really look for it...if anyone has a pic or something...that would really be cool...

According to this fellow, it runs off of the 540 rear PTO.

I have no idea, but it looks like it was meant for a 3pt hitch on a tractor and you could just run your shaft back and rig up the sprockets off of that

Where the heck did you find that?
I thought I was watching every classified, auction and sale in California for Bolens', and I missed that one.

Then again, the Bolens 540 RPM rear PTO you need is rarer than hens teeth and will cost as much as the tractor and trencher did, no doubt.

I am pretty sure Wilburj has one if you want to see what one looks like.

It appears to me that the digger could be run with a 540 PTO or a gas engine. The same type of chain that comes off the gear box and drives the auger the trencher would also have been used to deliver power to it.

Last I know you need the 540 pto to run it.

You can TRY to see if Doug aka LPBOLENS will sell you his, I'm pretty sure he has one or two. One I believe is new.

Anyone out there willing to open theirs up and show us the inerd's?? Are they meshed gears or sprockets and chain?

Anxious to see how hammerdwn20 makes out with his 1250 diesel (w/PTO) project too...

It looks like only 2 gears (#'s 33/38 & 7/32) & 1 shaft (#'s 3/2) to change between 540 rpm & 1000 rpm.

Anyone interested in buying a trencher attachment for a Bolens ht20?...I bought an ht20 with trencher...but I really just wanted the tractor...the trencher is cool...but needs a 540 pto to make it work....the same pto used for the auger attachment...its hard to find...and its going to be costly..but a good trencher is very expensive even on ebay...and this trencher appears to be in good condition...needs cleaning...surface rust removal and some paint...but the chain and gears seem to be in good condition...if interested..send me a message...

I would love to have it. How much does it weigh, approximately, and will it fit on a pallet for shipment?
