Howdy everyone. New member here from beautiful and scenic central Maryland. I recently became interested in "stuff with engines that isn't automobiles" after purchasing a non-running tiller and getting it back in working order last fall. (rebuilt the carb) Based on my initial success a buddy and I enrolled in a small engine repair course and that really got me excited about everything small-engine related.

My buddy just donated an 80's model Montgomery Ward riding mower for me to play with. I haven't gotten too far into it yet but I already have big plans for it once I get it running.

I've been lurking here for a while and I'm always amazed at how much you all know about everything tractor/small engine related.

My tractor goals right now are:
1) get the MW riding lawnmower my buddy gave me running.
2) modify it to be more a garden tractor than lawn mower (pull a small plow or discs, maybe push snow, etc)
3) At some point, build a homemade single wheel walk behind tractor because those are absolutely the coolest thing I've ever seen!

A bit more about myself: I'm 26, married, no kids or pets. Professionally, I manage a small research greenhouse and also run a plant transformation lab. (Yes, I make those evil GMO plants that no one seems to understand but everyone is really upset about.) In my spare time I like to garden and I teach classes about various horticultural topics at a local nursery sometimes on the weekends. My wife and I rent a house with an awesome freestanding workshop out back so I have more "man space" than I deserve. I love building stuff and while I'm not great at it I have recently started focusing more on metal fabrication. Most of the "stuff" I like to build is utterly ridiculous. For example to get more use out of the front tine tiller I bought I have taken the tines off it, added wheels and a wheeled sulky so I can ride it around like a ghetto 4 wheeled Segway. I'll try to get some pictures of that monstrosity posted eventually.

So anyway... Hello everyone. I look forward to learning from all of you and hopefully eventually possessing enough knowledge to add something to the discussions as well.
