I looked up the instructions for my rider and it said to remove the center cover and take a bolt off and just center the steering wheel. In the diagram the steering shaft is splined and apparently it's possible.
On mine however the shaft has two "flats" so the steering wheel can't just be adjusted to fit.
I recently replaced the steering support pivot and noticed the steering sector gear slides on splines on the steering shaft. I couldn't see or tell by feel if it was keyed and wondering if anyone knows ??

I'm wondering if you have to line up the steering wheel when you are able to change the contact between the steering shaft gear and the steering sector to bring the wheel to center ??

If it is not too far off and the tractor has tie rods, you can adjust them to center the steering wheel. Take a measurement of the toe first and adjust them equally (one side in and the other side out) and verify with a measuring tape. Hope this helps.

Everything should line up as built. If not, usually linkage is bent, not the wheel off center. First need to center the steering box by counting full and part turns from full left to full right then back up exactly half. The steering wheel is now centered in the box and hopefully the spokes on the steering wheel are straight.

Now, are the wheels pointed straight ahead, or probably not. Most likely the draglink is bent from a bump or two on a front wheel. Leaving the steering wheel centered, straighten or adjust the linkage to coincide with the now centered steering wheel.
