I just recently bought this ford lgt 165..and I am restoring it...(pics soon!)...I just realized I dont know how to attach the mower deck!...the deck has two brackets in the back...they look a little like hooks....and two front brackets that have a piece between them that moves freely..like maybe it locks the deck in place once you hook it on the front bar of the tractor...also..does anyone know the belt length for the mower deck..this is an lgt 165 with side panels...like a 79 or 80..thanks.

had the same question when I got my 145.. super easy.. Lower the deck to the ground. lift that movable part on the front of the deck, it should kinda look like a hook that locks around the bar from the tractor undercarriage.

once you unlock it, just lift the front up and slide it free of the rear hooks...
then pull it out the side.

It should fit between the front and rear tires, but, you may need to turn the steering wheel a bit to make it slide easily.

oh. remove the belt before you begin any of that. :)

while your under there, get your grease gun out, and lube up the nipples / zerks on the front axle and wheels

"while your under there, get your grease gun out, and lube up the nipples / zerks on the front axle and wheels" And.............don't miss the oft overlooked grease nipple on the bottom of the steering box. If more people knew about this one, there would likely be less discussion needed about sloppy steering and failed steering boxes.

Make your life easy with the deck, adjust the rear wheels so that the rear hooks are just below the bar. Lift on the front and pull forward and it drops on. Why doesn't everyone make decks like this???
On a related topic, I just bought a LGT 145 and was told that the mower deck blade shaft may (just may) have a grease fitting located on the underside of the deck to lube the blade shaft. But then I was also told that shaft has a sealed bearing and no grease fitting.

Anyone know the answer without having to crawl underneith the mower deck and check?

Thanks !!!!

you turn wheel all the way to left and slide smooth side of deck out.

My LGT has grease nipples underneath, and my YT and LG 45 have fittings in the top
