I have a 2001 John Deere L120 that has an hour meter that won't shut off, even when I unplug it from the wire harness. Is this normal for this model/year? I have 2006 L130 that only shows the hours when the mower is running. When I start the L120 an hour glass emblem flashes on the left side of the meter.
What the heck is going on ….any ideas?

Normal. I have an L120 out back that hasn't had a battery in it for years. Hour meter shows 900 something hours. Other JD L100 meters don't energize until the motor cranks up. Others start registering when you turn the key to the on position.
