I have a John Deere stx38, when I engage the blade it starts to melt the connector and has actully fried the blade swith. I did find that the connector down by the clutch had melted and was shorted out. I thought I had found the problem but when I engage the blade now the switch starts to get hot again. any suggestions.
Thanks
Joe

Is the fusible link still intact? That is, has it been replaced with a larger gauge wire or is it the original?

That clutch should not draw more than four amps (if that). It appears you still have a short (damaged wiring) or it’s developing a direct short in the PTO Clutch itself. Test the (resistance) of the clutch windings and work your way back from the connector.
