Hi all

Yet again I'm hoping someone can help.

I'm trying to replace the blade bearings in a 38" 4514 deck.

I cannot get the blade holder to separate from the shaft. I think they are rusted on.

I've tried using a universal puller as suggested by the service manual but is no help.

Have also tried heating the holder with a blow lamp and hitting with a hammer but no success.

Before I resort to using a grinder then spending a fortune replacing the parts, does anyone have any suggestions as to a solution?

Am starting to run out of patience with this mower!!

Regards
Richard

An oxy-acetylene torch will get it hotter, so more likely to break it free.
If there's room, a bearing splitter can put a lot of force on it.
What happened with the universal puller? It started bending parts?

Some of those are really tough to remove. I have one on a spindle assembly I bought off Ebay for my 42" deck, Been trying to get the blade holder off for months. Never seen one so tight. Just a spare, so not working on it that hard yet.
