I'm wanting to build a roller that I can pull behind my JD790. I can get my hands on a piece of 30" pipe that is 7'11" long....for free! It is heavy, 150# per foot. My first question is how long should this piece be? They will also cut it for me! Next question is how much weight could I pull with the 790? I'd be pulling on flat ground but wouldn't rule out a slope or two. Do I want to fill it? If so, with what? Anyone have pics of one they've built?

Mine started out as a 500 gallon propane tank. Cut down to 66" wide. I bought the tank, then had a welding shop build it for me. Weighs 1050 empty, but full of water (300 gallons) weighs in at 3400-3500lbs.

I ended up trying to copy your design Newt, thanks for sharing your pics! I've had this built and have been using it for a while, but thought I'd share my pictures. I did screw up on one part. When I had the steel shop cut my discs to weld on the ends, I gave them the OD instead of the ID measurement, so I wasn't able to recess them before welding. That sucks! Oh well, it still works very well.

Looks good!!! :thThumbsU Is it able to be filled with water? On mine, when its full, to hook up by myself I back up, lower the 3pt, use a small chain to go around the tongue and 3pt, lift the tongue up with the 3pt and back up to hook up.
