I picked up a parts trailer and it has a bulldog style hitch where my current trailer has a topside slide forward latch.
think it would be worth the swap?

I'm not sure what kind of input you are looking for? We don't know what kind of trailers they are, what their condition is, how difficult the swap would be, or what your capabilities are (if it just needs bolting/unbolting, or cut off parts and weld them on or something else)..
