:howdy:I have a '48 Ford 8N tractor that is giving me fits. I've put an new head, spark plugs and wires, new distributor wuth new points rotor and cap, new carburator, new radiator and hoses and all new wiring but it still doesn't want to run right. It starts and idles nice but when accelerated and put a load on by lowering the ganon it sputters and backfires. I've tried adjusting the timing setting several times but it doesn't seem to help.
I need help solving this problem.

I hope you kept the original parts. New distributors and carbs are junk. I would start by rebuilding the original carb, sounds to me like you have a clogged jet or passage.
